ONGC Sports Scholarship Scheme 2023 -24: Apply Online, Last Date

To assist aspiring, young, and talented athletes who have the potential to excel in their respective sports, ONGC provides 250 sports scholarships of Rs 15,000 to Rs 30,000 per month planned for the years 2023–24. The online application period began on March 6, 2023, and will end on March 27, 2023. ONGC Sports Scholarship Scheme 2023-24 Overview

Eligibility Criteria

For an applicant to be eligible to apply for the ONGC Sports Scholarship Scheme 2023–24, they must

• Should be an Indian citizen.
• The minimum age of 14 years will be considered on April 1st of the year of the scholarship. However, the minimum age for scholarship in chess, gymnastics, and swimming will be 10 years.
• On April 1, 2023, the applicants’ maximum age should be 25 years.
• The candidate must not receive any scholarship or stipend from any other organization during the scholarship period.

Documents Required

The candidate needs to submit any two of the following documents for age proof

• Birth certificate
• Passport
• Aadhar Card
• 10th Class certificate

Scholarship Amount

The amount of the scholarship to be granted to the 250 selected meritorious sportspersons will be as follows,

Benefits and Facilities to be given to the meritorious sportspersons

• Sportspersons on scholarship may be given the opportunity to represent the ONGC Team in PSPB and AIPSSPB tournaments, as well as other competitions within the country, at the discretion of the Head of Sports.
• The players will receive TA/DA and necessary expenditures for participation in the tournaments.
• Sportspersons on scholarship will also receive playing kits with the ONGC logo. They should wear them during their participation in competitions.
• The scholarship holder may avail of individual health insurance coverage of Rs. 5,00,000 (five lakhs only) for themselves. The individuals shall acquire the requisite health insurance coverage on their own, and premiums up to Rs. 7,000 shall be reimbursed by ONGC.

ONGC Sports Scholarship Scheme 2023-24 Selection Criteria

The proficiency of the sportsperson will be evaluated on the basis of their participation in national and international tournaments and events recognized by national and international sports federations and associations.

The criteria for Badminton, Billiards & Snooker, Golf, Shooting, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, and Para Games where ranking at the international or national level is available shall be considered as criteria for selection for scholarship as given below,

• The latest national and international singles rankings available on the closing date of the submission of applications will be considered for selection.
• The evaluation will be based on total points scored in both national and international rankings.

The evaluation criteria for Athletics, Archery, Basketball, Boxing, Carrom, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Kabaddi, Swimming, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Para Games will be based on the following score matrix,

• Performance in National and International tournaments and championships recognized by National and International Sports Federations and Associations and held between April 1, 2022, and the deadline for application submission will be evaluated. 
• In case of a tie in scores between sportspersons, their next best performances will be considered until the tie is broken.
• In athletics, the tie shall be broken on the basis of better timing, distance, or height achieved by a sportsperson in the championships or meets under evaluation.

• Complete the registration with the following details:
